{"id":1252,"date":"2017-10-29T20:27:22","date_gmt":"2017-10-29T20:27:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/?p=1252"},"modified":"2017-10-29T20:27:22","modified_gmt":"2017-10-29T20:27:22","slug":"factorytalk-view-alarms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/index.php\/2017\/10\/29\/factorytalk-view-alarms\/","title":{"rendered":"FactoryTalk View Alarms"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Introduction to FactoryTalk View Alarms<\/h2>\n<p>FactoryTalk View alarms are used to inform the operator that a specific condition has occurred.\u00a0 \u00a0Examples include a high oil temperature, low water pressure, or even a jam on a conveyor system.<\/p><div id=\"bryce-3757569459\" class=\"bryce-afterfirst bryce-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8316758073402323\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8316758073402323\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7728240895\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>We will configure FactoryTalk View alarms lto look for a &#8220;Trigger&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0When the trigger condition is met, we will program an alarm message to display for the operator.<\/p>\n<p>In this document, we will configure a simple alarm.\u00a0 \u00a0If a bit goes true, we will display an alarm message for the operator.<\/p>\n<h2>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<p>Before we configure alarms, be sure you have a FactoryTalk View project created, and communications are set up in RSLinx Enterprise.\u00a0 If you have not done that yet, <a href=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/13\/factorytalk-view-project\/\">click here<\/a> to read the document on creating a new project and setting up communication.<\/p>\n<p>Go to Startup in FactoryTalk View to ensure the alarm features is enabled to run in the background.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1253 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Startup.png\" alt=\"Startup Menu\" width=\"467\" height=\"233\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Startup.png 467w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Startup-300x150.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 467px) 100vw, 467px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 467px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 467\/233;\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Alarm Setup<\/h2>\n<p>Under Alarm Setup, you will start with the &#8220;Triggers&#8221; tab.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1254 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AlarmSetup.png\" alt=\"Alarm Triggers\" width=\"479\" height=\"342\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AlarmSetup.png 479w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/AlarmSetup-300x214.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 479px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 479\/342;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The options for the trigger type are Value, Bit, or LSBit (Least Significant Bit).\u00a0 \u00a0The trigger type of &#8220;Value&#8221; can be used on a single bit or an entire word.\u00a0 \u00a0 By using &#8220;Value&#8221;, you are going to monitor a numeric value of a tag, and based on the numeric value, a message will be generated (from the messages tab in the next step).\u00a0 \u00a0If you choose &#8220;Bit&#8221;, the tag you monitor must be an entire word, such as a DINT (Double Integer).\u00a0 \u00a0The alarms will then look for a bit to go true within the word to trigger a message.\u00a0 \u00a0By using LSBit, the Least significant bit to go high within a word will trigger a message.<\/p>\n<p>Click &#8220;Add&#8221; to add a trigger, then browse to the tag that you wish to monitor.
