{"id":1381,"date":"2017-11-05T12:20:53","date_gmt":"2017-11-05T12:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2017-11-05T12:20:53","modified_gmt":"2017-11-05T12:20:53","slug":"clock-update-tool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/index.php\/2017\/11\/05\/clock-update-tool\/","title":{"rendered":"Clock Update Tool"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Introduction to the Clock Update Tool<\/h2>\n<p>It&#8217;s like Y2K all over again twice a year in most of the United States.\u00a0 \u00a0 We set the clock forward one hour in the Spring, and back one hour in the Fall.\u00a0 \u00a0 Furthermore, the ControlLogix processor will not automatically adjust for daylight savings time.\u00a0 \u00a0This is where the Clock Update Tool can come in Handy!\u00a0 Look at the Date\/Time tab in the Controller properties window.<\/p><div id=\"bryce-3009216484\" class=\"bryce-afterfirst bryce-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8316758073402323\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8316758073402323\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7728240895\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 505\/356;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, look at the checkbox &#8220;Adjust for Daylight Savings&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0As I have noted, it does not say &#8220;Automatically adjust&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0 When it&#8217;s time for daylight savings, we much check the box (or use an SSV command to set this bit).\u00a0 \u00a0 Consequently, you would need to un-check this box in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Without a doubt, we could write code in our logic that would automatically do this for us.\u00a0 \u00a0The problem with that is we never know which company is lobbying congress this year to have the dates changed again for daylight savings.<\/p>\n<h2>Clock Update Tool<\/h2>\n<p>By using the Clock Update Tool, we can add events to our schedule.\u00a0 \u00a0These events can set to execute every day, every week, every hour, etc.\u00a0 \u00a0 An update can also be manually triggered from the clock update tool.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Once we have events set up, we can add devices (ie ControlLogix processors) to update their clocks during that event.\u00a0 \u00a0 In essence,\u00a0 the devices that are updated would then have the same time as the PC that is running the clock update tool.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure you installed the clock update tool when you installed Studio 5000.\u00a0 \u00a0 Then we will open the clock update tool.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1383 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/OpenClockUpdate.png\" alt=\"Open Clock Update\" width=\"409\" height=\"461\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/OpenClockUpdate.png 409w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/OpenClockUpdate-266x300.png 266w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 409px;
