Documentation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Introduction to ControlLogix Documentation<\/h2>\n<p>ControlLogix documentation helps you to better understand the purpose of each rung and tag in your project.\u00a0 Even though Aliases are available in ControlLogix, the alias names are limited to 40 characters.\u00a0 \u00a0When you download your project, Alias names are also downloaded to the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0 For this reason, if you walk up with a laptop, and perform an upload without the program, you will see the alias names.\u00a0 \u00a0 Even though this does provide some form of documentation, we can better describe our project with descriptions.\u00a0 \u00a0 Descriptions reside on the hard drive (within the .ACD file).\u00a0 \u00a0For this reason, be sure to keep a copy of the original ControlLogix .ACD file accessible.<\/p><div id=\"bryce-1869224704\" class=\"bryce-afterfirst bryce-entity-placement\"><script async \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Adding a description<\/h2>\n<p>Now that we know what descriptions are, let&#8217;s add descriptions to the logic.\u00a0 Keep in mind there are two types of descriptions:\u00a0 \u00a0Operand (tag) descriptions, and rung comments.\u00a0 \u00a0 In this case, we will start by adding a tag (operand description.)<\/p>\n<p>In the logic below, I will add a description to switch.0.\u00a0 \u00a0 Right click switch.0, and &#8220;Edit Main Operand Description&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1419 lazyload\" --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 777\/530;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Most important that we try to describe our bits in the &#8220;High&#8221; or &#8220;On&#8221; State.\u00a0 \u00a0 This will help us interpret logic later, when we are attempting to read our code.\u00a0 \u00a0You will notice that since this is a tag description, the description also shows up on the next rung of logic also.<\/p>\n<p><img --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 450\/147;\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Rung Comments<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to operand (tag) descriptions, we can also use Rung comments.\u00a0 \u00a0Rung comments are comments that extend the length of the rung.\u00a0 \u00a0 To add a rung comment, simply right click the rung number, and &#8220;Edit Rung Comment&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0Here, I&#8217;ll add some descriptions across the two rungs of logic in our routine.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1422 lazyload\" might appear slightly different than yours.\u00a0 \u00a0 We can make the descriptions stand out a little bit.\u00a0 \u00a0 Although this is mostly cosmetic, is does help to quickly identify the difference between the tag and description.\u00a0 \u00a0This will help a lot when troubleshooting.<\/p>\n<p>To change the Fonts, Sizes, Foreground, and Background colors, click Tools | Options from the menu bar.<\/p>\n<p>Under &#8220;Ladder Editor&#8221;, you can click on Fonts and Colors.\u00a0 \u00a0 As shown, you can change the background and foreground (text) color of your descriptions and
