--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1224\/1632;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Types of Digital Input Modules<\/h2>\n<p>There are several types of input modules:\u00a0 \u00a0AC, DC (sinking or sourcing), etc.\u00a0 \u00a0The most common modules are 16 point modules, however, 8 point, and 32 point modules are also available.<\/p>\n<p>The image above is a 1746-IB16 module.\u00a0 \u00a0 You can think of this module as 16 voltage testers.\u00a0 \u00a0If you have a 24 volt DC point supply, just attach the common to one of the bottom two terminals.\u00a0 \u00a0When the + voltage is seen on any of the other terminals, a status light will energize.\u00a0 \u00a0When the status light energizes, the value of a 1 should be placed into the Input data table in the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0Then, the program will look at this value to determine any actions that need to be taken.\u00a0 If you have a different type of module, be sure to consult the installation guide for that module.<\/p>\n<h2>Replacing the Module<\/h2>\n<p>Be sure the battery is not low or missing before you power down the chassis.\u00a0 The SLC-500 does not support removal and insertion under power.\u00a0 \u00a0Also, for your protection, be sure to shut off field device power.\u00a0 This will be a separate power source.\u00a0 \u00a0Loosen the two screws on the terminal block.\u00a0 \u00a0Next, remove the terminal block from the module.\u00a0 On the top and bottom of the module, press in the locking tabs.\u00a0 Be sure you replace the module with the same catalog number.\u00a0 Finally,\u00a0 re-mount the terminal block and power up the chassis.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/index.php\/category\/slc500\/\">SLC-500 Category page.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;
