--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 384\/1024;\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Ports<\/h2>\n<p>At the bottom of the processor, you will see an RS232 port.\u00a0 \u00a0This port can be used to connect to your computer, hmi, or other processors.\u00a0 \u00a0If you wish to connect to your PC, you will need an RS232 Null Modem Cable.\u00a0 \u00a0For a processor with no project, this is\u00a0 the easiest way to download your project initially for most users.<\/p>\n<p>Above the RS232 Port is the Ethernet Port.\u00a0 \u00a0In a new processor (or defaulted processor), this Ethernet port is set to obtain an IP address from a server.\u00a0 \u00a0The Ethernet port is capable of much faster speeds than the RS232 Serial port.\u00a0 Using the <a href=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/index.php\/2017\/05\/27\/bootp-server\/\">BootP Utility,<\/a>\u00a0you can initially assign an IP address to the processor using the MAC ID (Ethernet Address).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1729 size-medium lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0282-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SLCEthernetAddress\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0282-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0282-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0282.jpg 816w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/225;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Key Switch<\/h2>\n<p>The Key switch consists of 3 modes,\u00a0 Program, Remote, and Run.\u00a0 \u00a0 When the key switch is locked into Program Mode, the logic does not execute.\u00a0 \u00a0Online program changes require fewer steps, and therefore programming is easier.\u00a0 Your system will likely shut down, though, if you switch to program mode.<\/p>\n<p>In Run Mode, the system is running (unless the processor faults).\u00a0 You cannot do online editing of your project, or download to the processor when they key is in Run.\u00a0 \u00a0You can, however, change the values of existing data table addresses such as presets on timers and counters.<\/p>\n<p>In Remote mode, you can do just about anything you need to do from RSLogix on your PC.\u00a0 \u00a0This includes online editing, downloading, and even switching the processor between Program and Run.\u00a0 This is called &#8220;Remote Program&#8221; and &#8220;Remote Run&#8221; mode.<\/p>\n<p>Just be aware of all possible dangers when doing online editing and changing data table values!<\/p>\n<h2>Status Indicators<\/h2>\n<p>The status indicators help us to troubleshoot the system and provide information about the state of the processor.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BATT &#8212; The battery is low or missing.\u00a0 \u00a0Replace the battery as soon as possible.\u00a0 \u00a0 In the SLC 5\/01, or 5\/02, the battery can be replaced while the system is running because the battery is located inside the front door of the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0The 5\/03, 5\/04, and 5\/05 must be powered down to replace the battery.\u00a0 \u00a0 The battery is located on the side of the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0A capacitor will hold your memory for around 30 minutes as you replace the battery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1731 size-medium lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0281-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SLCBattery\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0281-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0281-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0281-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/IMG_0281.jpg 1000w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/225;\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FLT &#8212; This is the Fault Indicator.\u00a0 \u00a0If the Fault indicator is solid red, this usually indicates a hardware problem.\u00a0 \u00a0 Flashing red indicates a software (recoverable) fault.\u00a0 \u00a0 If you have a flashing red FLT light, go online with RSLogix to determine what caused the fault.\u00a0 This will give you more information to correct the condition which caused the fault.\u00a0 \u00a0Then you can clear the fault and go back to run mode.\u00a0 \u00a0With some recoverable faults, you can turn the key between program and run to clear the fault and re-enter run mode.\u00a0 \u00a0The problem is that if you use this method, you do not know what caused the fault.<\/li>\n<li>RUN &#8212; This simply indicates that your system is running when the indicator is solid green.<\/li>\n<li>FORCE &#8212; If flashing amber, forces are installed, but not enabled.\u00a0 \u00a0If solid amber, installed forces are enabled.<\/li>\n<li>ENET &#8212; This is your Ethernet Status light.\u00a0 If solid green, the connection is working properly.\u00a0 \u00a0Flashing green indicates packets are being transmitted.\u00a0 \u00a0Flashing red means a fault has occurred.<\/li>\n<li>RS232 &#8212; This indicator will flicker as data goes across the RS232 port (Channel 0) when configured for DF1 mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Factory Default the processor<\/h2>\n<p>When the battery is pulled, the processor retains the program from around 30 minutes.\u00a0 \u00a0There are times, however, that you may want to reset the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0For example:\u00a0 \u00a0If you accidentally shut down the communication ports, and you need to make a change to the project.<\/p>\n<p>To factory default the processor, you must first power down the chassis, and remove the processor.\u00a0 \u00a0Next, disconnect the battery, then short VBB to GND for one minute.\u00a0 \u00a0Finally, you can re-connect the battery, place the processor back in the chassis, and power up your system.\u00a0 \u00a0On a processor that has been factory defaulted, your FLT light should be flashing red.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;
