As a nostalgic post, I wanted to go back and review this legacy software.  Those proficient with AI software claim they could navigate the software much better and much faster than with RSLogix software.   By memorizing certain keystrokes and shortcuts, users could perform common tasks very quickly.  In this post, I&#8217;ll go through the setup process, and how to go online with a PLC-5.<\/p><div id=\"bryce-2924088567\" class=\"bryce-afterfirst bryce-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8316758073402323\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-8316758073402323\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7728240895\" \ndata-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Set up RSLinx<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Rockwell Icom AI5 Software had some built-in communication drivers, the later versions could also use RSLinx.   In this case, I&#8217;ve set up a shortcut driver to access the DH+ system where the PLC-5 resides.  I&#8217;m using a shortcut because I&#8217;m going through a ControlLogix to gateway to the DH+ Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"509\" height=\"321\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3298 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-5.png 509w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-5-300x189.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 509px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 509\/321;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As can be seen, I&#8217;ve created a shortcut called &#8220;DHD&#8221; to access the Data Highway Plus system on my downstairs gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Configure Rockwell Icom AI5 Software<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the Function keys, I&#8217;ll select &#8220;Configure Program Parameters&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"662\" height=\"325\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3299 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-6.png 662w, https:\/\/bryceautomation.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-6-300x147.png 300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 662px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 662\/325;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, I&#8217;ll select F1. I&#8217;ll change the default server name to DHD.  As I said before, this is the name of the shortcut that will access the DH+ Network. If you already have a PLC-5 program under RSLogix 5, you can &#8220;Save As&#8221; an X5 file.  Be sure to save the database as external files.
