Backup Restore Utility"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Introduction to the RSLinx Backup Restore Utility<\/h2>\n<p>The RSLinx Backup Restore Utility is used to back up your current driver configuration. \u00a0 Imagine having 200 IP addresses under your Ethernet Devices driver, and someone accidentally deletes the driver. \u00a0 If you have a backup file, you will simply restore the driver configuration. \u00a0 If you get a new laptop into your department that does not have drivers set up, back up the driver configuration, and restore it to your new laptop. \u00a0Also, if your computer needs to be re-imaged, and you expect to loose all of your drivers, use the backup restore utility to restore your driver configuration.<\/p><div id=\"bryce-1936956832\" class=\"bryce-afterfirst bryce-entity-placement\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-8316758073402323\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another reason to use the Backup Restore Utility is for a specific configuration for certain equipment. \u00a0Once communication is set up, back up the known driver configuration that works, and name the file for that particular machine.<\/p>\n<h2>Backup your driver configuration<\/h2>\n<p>Access the Backup Restore Utility by going to Start | All Programs | Rockwell Software | RSLinx | Backup Restore Utility. \u00a0When the utility opens, press the &#8220;Backup&#8221; Button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-588 the file to &#8220;My Documents&#8221;. \u00a0You will also want to store the backup file on a thumb drive or on a server. \u00a0This way, you can access the file in the event of a computer may loose communication to other programs such as Studio 5000 if they are currently using RSLinx. \u00a0Also be aware that your current driver configuration will be overwritten by the configuration in the backup file.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, your drivers are restored. \u00a0 Verify the driver configuration by opening RSLinx, and go to Communication | Configure Drivers.<\/p>\n<p>If you lost your drivers,
